Sea Garden

This is a perfect home for a family getaway. We had a sibling reunion here; the house slept all 7 of us comfortably. The kitchen is very well equipped; the dining area was our favorite place to share meals and play games. The house is very close to both Mendocino and Fort Bragg, and the location is beautiful. We saw deer everyday, and it's only a short walk to the Pt. Cabrillo lighthouse.

This is our fourth year renting Sea Garden. Such a beautiful home with wonderful views. This year the weather was just gorgeous. We saw lots of whales and did lots of shopping in Fort Bragg and Mendocino. The welcome gifts for us and our pups was so nice. Thank you.

The cb property was as described on line, excellent location and quiet neighborhood. Very cozy downstairs with open floor plan. Unfortunately none of the upstairs heating units worked so we were quite cold the first night until the heat from downstairs eventually made its way to the second floor. DVD player was missing controls. I would rent again if I could be reassured the upstairs heating units worked.

We spent a weekend at this property with our friends for a birthday get together. The house sits on the ocean cliffs of South Caspar community. Quiet location, wildlife right outside the window, beautiful views of the ocean from all rooms, close to the lighthouse, multiple outdoor sitting areas. The garden is relaxing. Same with the hot tub on the patio. Spacious interiors, very clean, beautiful furnishing and decoration of the rooms. The kitchen is well equipped with all you need and more. There were small personal touches - flowers, liquor, a happy birthday note - that welcomed us into the house. We had a wonderful, unforgettable time and would return for a longer weekend in the future. It was a perfect stay! Better than expected and better than pictured.

We loved our stay. Plenty of room for our family. Spacious and great locaton. Hated to leave and can't wait to go back.

The property is clean cozy and with views that make it a must to stay. We were greeted by deer peacefully grazing in the backyard. Quarter mile away from Caspar Beach, 8 minutes away from main street Mendocino. Pet friendly + hot tub and a deck on the second floor were massive cherries on the top.

Having stayed at dozens of rentals in the area, this has been in the top few. From pictures you can tell that it's going to be a nice spot, and that is all true. I felt the rental company went above and beyond to ensure that the house was clean and had sweet little touches added in too (fresh flowers, dog treat, folded towels). All of this was noticed and made us feel very welcome! I will prioritize staying with this company again.

We stayed the weekend to celebrate birthday and health. The living space is such that everyone could gather with space to spare. The bedrooms were comfy with beautiful views from every room. The backyard was nicely enclosed so the pooch could be safe and secured. The kitchen was sufficiently equipped. We will be returning soon to stay!

As always the house and location were great, the weather was wonderful and the family had a fantastic time together. The beauty of the Pacific Ocean can never be overlooked. the whales put on a show too!

We really enjoyed this rental. The master bedroom is huge compared to the other 3. A factor of at least 2. Took a day to learn all of the light switches... lots of them and not always obvious where some lights were being controlled.

And could use some serious minor mtx... one of the upstairs decks was in pretty bad shape and we never were able to lock the doors other than the front one. Not a worry really but seemed kind of odd.

The one thing really needed however is a refrigerator upgrade. The only place I've rented without an ice maker. At the very least the housekeepers should have filled the ice cube trays. Upon arrival, we had no ice until the second day!

The other odd thing; if all the bedrooms were occupied (as was our case, minus 1) you have 8 people... but everything seems designed for 6. Only 6 places at dining table, 6 glass cups, 6 plates, 6 seats in TV room, etc. We were constantly moving chairs from one room to another.

Clean, nothing falling apart, everything we needed. I have been in more updated rentals in this neighborhood, but the views can’t be beat! We even saw whales while sitting on the porch. I loved that every room had an opening window or door and would see the ocean. Would ask that the property managers do some yard work as the lawn sitting area was completely over grown and we could not enjoy it, but you can’t see the ocean from there anyways so with our size group we just sat on the decks and enjoyed the waves and seals barking.

The house was perfect for a three gen of our family including toddler and baby. Great layout and all the appliances were operable albeit tired. The master bed & bath was a highlight.
The window coverings on the upper floor were inadequate, floor rugs old and frayed (master bed), kitchen pots and pans could do with an audit.

There was 6 of us staying at Sea Garden. The house was in a nice neighborhood but the inside was outdated. The rooms upstairs were very small the size of a walk-in closet. There is a fenced in backyard which is nice for our dogs. I think they should update everything inside the house because it was very expensive to stay there. The refrigerator was small and no where to store all the food we brought.

We will be back. The views were amazing and the cleanliness of the home was great.

We visited during "ski week" 2023 and were not expecting the cold weather to follow us there. The house was great, wood stove kept it warm when the power was out for a bit, and the large dining area and living room meant everyone could spread out and relax together but not too close (teenagers..sigh...). Hot tub was great contrast to the cold and rainy wether and got a lot of use. Kitchen was great and well stocked. This was our second time with Mendocino Preferred and won't be our last!

Nice house in a great location

Beds were comfortable, views of ocean and deer delightful, kitchen well stocked, living room spacious, several outside deck areas to choose from, quiet, excellent location, near the Cabrillo lighthouse and walking along the bluff.

It was Heaven! The home was spacious and was perfectly situated on the coast near easy walks to the headlands and beaches. The hosts welcomed us with a complimentary candies and drinks. The master bedroom was facing out to the water and the bed was very comfortable.
Overall a wonderful experience.

A Mendocino vacation is seldom a miss! The location of this home is spectacular! While the house itself is a bit tired, it did not distract from the beauty of the sea, the wandering deer and the access to great restaurants!

Everything was great except they told us a few days before we were to arrive that the oven wasn't working... Huge bummer since we had created a menu that was focused on baking... Not sure we will stay in this location again but loved the quiet neighborhood and all the deer.

The location could not have been better - 10 mins from downtown, right next to Cabrillo point lighthouse, and short drive/walking distance to the beach. Every room in the house has gorgeous ocean views, and the wraparound deck is perfect for watching the sunset. Spacious and clean, the house was more than large enough for us. We'll definitely be back soon!

When I started the oven to cook appetizers, the oven caught fire and emitted nauseous fumes. We turned it off and tried again about 15 minutes later. Again the fumes and fire so we called the management. They sent a repairman out right away. He told us not to use the oven (it caught fire when he turned it on) and he brought a brand new toaster oven for us to use. He set it up for us and was on his way. We were able to have another fabulous stay at Sea Garden and plan to return again next year. Management is so helpful, professional, and friendly. See you again next March.

Other than a light bulb or two out of service, this home on the coast is about as good as it gets. Clean throughout with a well supplied kitchen. The surprisingly large protected fenced garden area is a unique special surprise, especially if sharing the space with the family dog. The interior is well appointed and comfortable, though the bedding is not 100% cotton, so if that is important, bring your own. The door locks have suffered from the sea air and can be tricky, but the owners are planning to replace them. And the special treats for humans and dogs were a nice surprise! Definitely one of the better places to stay in a perfect location for coastal walks, while being very convenient to Mendocino village and Fort Bragg town. On my list for future repeat rentals.

This is the 3rd year we've stayed in your lovely home. It is so well equipped, and we've always had a great time there.

We stayed at the Sea Garden with another couple and loved this house. It was well appointed with amazing views! It also had multiple decks on which to enjoy the view. The spa was a welcome treat after a day of exploring the area. We would definitely pick this house again. If you’re planning on staying here, note that, although the kitchen has everything you need as far as equipment and dinnerware, you will need to bring your own spices, oils, condiments etc. Salt and pepper is all that’s provided.

Beautiful property! The fenced backyard, porch looking out to the ocen, the wraparound deck, hottub, views of the ocean from every room ... we loved it.

The 6 of us ladies all agreed that the property location and view was outstanding. The beds were comfortable and it was nice to have 3 full baths for 6 women to share. It would have been much more convenient to be able to enter the home with a door code and not have to drive into downtown Mendocino twice to pick up and drop off the key. The front door lock was very difficult to operate. It also would have been nice to have more than 1 key for 6 people. The dishwasher top rack was broken. We would have loved to have a few basic spices and cooking oil in the kitchen. The tv directions in the binder were for an older model tv and we never could figure out how to watch live tv, but we did get Netflix. -

We have been renting homes for years in Mendocino/Casper. Sea Garden - without a doubt - is the most awesome home we've ever rented. Beautiful views from every room, very comfortably furnished, fully supplied kitchen. Just wonderful. We saw so many whales. AND we got to bring our little fur babies. Thank you so much.

Property was very well appointed, in excellent condition. Unfortunately the hot tub was out of order and the substitute inflatable hot tub was barely adequate for two people. We understand a new tub is on order, everything is slow now. The common area towards the ocean was great for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine. Fair warning though, you must stay in the common area or the neighbors will be out in a flash telling you that you're on private property. Great location for coastal walks right outside the door. The lighthouse is an easy walk and a must see.

Sea Garden is a beautiful home located in a stunning location. We were able to see the ocean from every room and saw many whale spouts during our stay. The attached garden is also quite lovely and perfect for relaxing. Our only issue was that the hot tub was not working and we were not told about it beforehand. They had put a small blowup tub that holds two people on the deck as a substitute but it wasn't turned on so it took over 24 hours to heat up. We also like to cook meals while we stay in vacation homes and the kitchen was lacking several things we needed. (Bring what you need if you plan to cook!) If the hot tub was fixed, we would definitely come back to this amazing house.

I had a wonderful experience at Sea Garden. The place was tidy and when we arrived there was a birthday card waiting for me! The view of the ocean from the master bedroom is incredible, I would happily book this property again.

The views are amazing! We loved watching deer eating outside our windows. The only disappointment was the real hot tub is broken so there is replacement blow up tub. The scenic hot tub was the main reason i chose this place for my birthday. It was 61 degrees when we arrived and it heated very slowly. Takes about 24 hours to get up to hot tub temps and we didn’t realize it wasn’t heated until the second day . By the 3rd day it was finally warm but then the power went out all day and we were back to square one. I would recommend they at least start heating the hot tub before people arrive.

With fires in the valley, smoke in the air, this house was the perfect getaway. We were able to see a herd of deer from the house almost every day. Woke up and went to bed listening to the ocean waves crashing in the cove nearby. The house was warm, cozy and everything we wanted coming to the coast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3day getaway at the Sea Garden! The house is very comfortable and emmaculately clean. Well stocked kitchen and very comfortable beds,made the trip awesome! We will be back!

This house offers the perfect escape to the beauty of Mendocino. It is large, beautifully laid out and every room offers a view of the Ocean. The master bedroom is like a getaway in itself with huge picture window, a door to one of many decks and the hot tub. We brought our dog and he couldn't be happier. There was the back area with a large expanse to run and the private garden area which is completely fenced in and private. I highly recommend staying here. It is close to everything and yet very private.

The bathroom is tiny, but functional. The stairway up is of an airy design, and narrow steps on the upper half, so it felt a little scary the first few times. But when we got accustomed to it, we were okay. It was all very clean.

Our group loved living in the Sea Garden home for a week! Everything about it was perfect - great kitchen stocked with everything a cook might need, magnificent view, the fenced back yard and hot tub were so nice too. I was happy we could have our dog join us too -- thanks for sharing this wonderful home with our family!

We stayed here for 3 nights with my husband's family and had an amazing time! The views from this property are unbelievable -- deer in the yard, gorgeous sunsets and waves crashing, sea lions barking in the distance -- you cannot get a better location. It also helps that it is right between Mendocino and Fort Bragg providing easy access to restaurants, beaches, hiking trails, and shopping. The house was clean and had everything we needed to cook huge and delicious meals, and there was plenty of room for 4 couples to have a comfortable stay. The outside decks are perfectly situated for the best views, and it was great to spend time relaxing on them. Only suggestion would be to get some lounge chairs for the deck, as the current chairs were not the most comfortable for extended sitting or a nap in the sunshine. The rental company was a delight to work with - made the process very smooth and easy (Kathy in particular was so friendly and helpful). I would absolutely recommend this to friends and other family, and we will definitely be booking again!

The house was conveniently located to shop in both Ft. Bragg and Mendocino. We drove to the various beaches however was unable to walk Glass Beach due to the Sneaker Wave warnings. The beach in Mendocino was beautiful, we were able to enjoy our "beach time" after shopping in the quaint town of Mendocino. We enjoyed the spaciousness of the vacation rental, cooking our evening meals, playing Mexican Train, reading on the upper deck or just listening to the sounds of the ocean. Our annual girl's beach vacation was again a wonderful time!

Overall this is a very comfortable home. There are ocean views from every room. The kitchen is well stocked. I did not notice the crock till shortly before we left or I would have used it. Our two little dogs were constantly entertained with all the wildlife. Deer and turkeys everyday. The view is beautiful! We had a great 10 days here! The chair issue was being resolved right after we left. New chairs being delivered.

The house was clean, well stocked, comfortable and had a beautiful view of the Ocean. We chose this house because it was dog friendly, the backyard was secured and it has a doggie door. We plan on staying here again, it’s a get property regardless if you bring a pet.

The floor plan is open and airy with clean hardwood floors. The setting is idyllic amongst ocean cliffs and a quiet neighborhood.

Sea Garden was a pleasant experience for our family of seven. Very easy to empty the stress bucket with perfect views of the ocean and the quiet. Rental staff was friendly and professional when picking up the keys. The home was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The grandkids loved their bedrooms with the ocean views. Weather was perfect for hikes and a visit to the lighthouse which was a few minutes away. Overall rating would be a 5 star from us.

My family and I stayed at Sea Garden over the Thanksgiving Holiday, and had a great time. House is very well equipped and offers great views. Would definitely go back.

What a lovely, comfortable home. It was very accommodating, clean and warm. We will be back. One recommendation: Don't book through VRBO. Their service fees are excessive and not easy to determine in advance, nor can they explain them since they are determined by a "computer algorithm." Right.

If you're looking for the perfect spot for a girl's coastal escape, look no further. With its spacious decks upstairs and down, well-stocked and provisioned kitchen, private hot tub and 4 good-sized bedrooms with plenty of closet space, Sea Garden will delight on every level. All four of us gals had our own room, something that becomes more important as time passes, and having 3 full baths was excellent. The master suite is truly exceptional, with ocean view and access to the lower deck with hot tub. The home is well-maintained, spotlessly clean and the linens and towels are in fine shape. There's a washer and dryer off the master bedroom, too. Above all, it is private, quiet and you can hear the ocean at full song all night long. Lots of deer and birds came to visit daily, and it's close to some spectacular hiking trails. You can see the Point Cabrillo lighthouse from the massive top deck. Everything about this place spells VACATION!

The view is fantastic -- even better than I had expected based on the pictures. The garden is incredible. It's really wonderful sitting in the hot tub, listening to the waves, and looking a the garden.

The main floor master bedroom is fantastic. 2 of the 3 room upstairs are a tad small, but all have access to a gigantic deck. The beds are all comfortable.

Kitchen is well-equipped and nicely laid out to let people in the kitchen, living room, and dining room interact easily.

Rental experience was super easy. Late night pickup was simple, and all communication was very clear.

They even went the extra mile to add some nice notes and a decoration for our special occasion.

This house was absolutely perfect for my birthday celebration. There were 2 adults and 3 children (ages 6-9) in our group and the house was perfect. It was clean, the kitchen was fully stocked and the bedrooms and bathrooms worked out really well. The master is beautiful and private. The outdoor fully fenced yard was a huge hit with the kids. We walked to the lighthouse from the property, which was a beautiful 1/2 mile hike. The location couldn't be better and the views are to die for! We had an issue with the hot tub and the management staff was fast to help out. We will definitely be back!

The Sea Garden was an excellent place to stay and enjoy everything that the north coast has to offer. It is close to all the places to see and explore. The property exceeded the description and recommendations of the Mendocino staff. I would recommend this property to others who like a comfortable atmosphere with easy access to attractions nearby. The Mendocino Perferred staff were excellent and were helpful, friendly and ensured our stay was perfect.

My family stayed at the Sea Garden for Thanksgiving vacation. The minute you walk into the Sea Garden it feels likes home. We were very comfortable and had a great time. Great location. Family wants to make it an annual event.

I was under the impression that the property was ocean front vs ocean view. The downstairs area is quite nice, with a large kitchen, that was well stocked with plates and various kitchen wares. The master bedroom is a treat with a gorgeous view. The master bath is equipped with a double sink and good lighting. In contrast, the upstairs bedrooms are quite small in size and limited in functionality. We had a problem with the bathroom, but something that can be readily remedied. All in all it's a fine place to spend the week or weekend.

Overall we had a great experience. It was everything it promised and comfortably fit all of our party (6 adults and one toddler).We'd understood that there was an outdoor fire pit (which there wasn't), and we had a minor issue with ants, but neither of these significantly detracted from our experience.
